Walking and cultural tourism.

Tanzania is endowed with the rich cultural heritage of 120 ethnic tribes. The walking and cultural tourism provides visitors with authentic cultural experiences that combine nature, scenery, folklore, ceremonies, dances, rituals, tales, art, handicrafts and hospitality that give a unique insight into the people’s way of life.

This wonderful adventure is designed especially for those who love walking. It is a rewarding experience to leave the safari vehicle behind and walk through the lush tropical slopes of Mt Meru or Mt Kilimanjaro. A good amount of conventional game viewing in vehicles is also included, but the highlights of this safari are the intimate moments you will experience in Tanzania’s very remote backcountry on foot. Superb guides include local Maasai, introducing you to some of the real treasures of the wilderness.

Discover how many steps it takes to grow, pick, dry, roast, pound and brew fresh aromatic coffee. Participate in the process yourself before enjoying the taste and taking home your very personal packet of Tanzanian coffee! In the hunting and pastoral areas of the north you can follow the Iraqw, Barbaiq, Hadzabe and Maasai tracks to explore almost forgotten traditions and a way of life that is closely linked to nature and wildlife. In southern Tanzania follow the famous drumbeats and let the Ndali dancers interpret the music and performances they inherited from their ancestors. Taste the local cuisine, with all the culinary variations of Ugali, Makande, Machalari, Pilau, Chapati, Nyama choma, and sample the local brew.

Sense the culture and history of the Swahili people of coastal Tanzania. Explore the savannahs on a camel’s back. Boat down a river or row in one of the many lakes while listening to hair-raising legendary tales! Paddle between mangroves and sail with the fishermen to pristine sandy islands. Climb a holy mountain and rest in the shade of a giant baobab tree in the Rift Valley. Meet the friendly inhabitants of Tanzania’s “Switzerland” while hiking through the Usambara Mountains. Admire ancient irrigation systems or today’s local craftsmanship. Listen to a traditional healer’s diagnostic methods and obtain the correct remedial prescriptions.

You will feel Africa beneath your feet on this quintessential walking safari as we traverse across northern Tanzania through premier game parks and wildlife concessions. We stay in the only luxury camp in parks with permission to go on bush walks inside the national park. Followed by a flight into a remote bush camp located on a private concession in the vast plains of the Serengeti ecosystem where we track game under the guidance of an expert ranger and naturalist guide. Depending on the season and location of the great migration, camp is set at the best vantage point to observe the spectacle of wildebeest and zebra herds and the predators that track them. We witness the rhythms of the bush and the constant struggle of survival on night drives outside the parks and enjoy personal encounters with native people, walking with Maasai warriors and visiting indigenous artisan workshops and markets. All accommodations offer private luxury amenities with distinctive character in superb locations that show sensitivity to the environment and value the neighboring

Do you know?-To walk through the African bush is to experience Africa close-up. Smells are suddenly subtle and varied and every sound has significance. Birds and butterflies are individuals, noticed and studied, not simply rushed past in the race for the bigger game.
